The Vampire Academy series follows seventeen-year-old Rose Hathaway, a 'dhampir' who has sworn to protect her best friend Lissa Dragomir. Lissa is a Moroi, a good vampire. The Strigoi are evil, soulless vampires who want to make all of the Moroi like them. The dhampirs are the bodyguards who make sure this doesn't happen. During the series, Rose falls in love with her mentor Dimitri who is seven years her senior. Rose has to protect Lissa, all the while knowing that she can never be with Dimitri. But Rose isn't the type to give up, and even if it'll kill her, she's prepared to fight - for her best friend, and for the love of her life. This is a fanastic series. I would recommend it to anyone who likes YA vampire/romance novels.
